Ten years ago, on the 30th of April, 2004, one of the greatest – most quotable movies of our time – was released.
Mean Girls, based on Rosalind Wiseman’s non-fiction novel Queen Bees and Wannabees, was produced by Lorne Michaels and written for screen by Tina Fey, who plays the hilarious Ms. Norbury.
The film grossed $129, 042, 971 worldwide and has since developed a large cult following. I think the most quoted line from Mean Girls has got to be Karen’s
The Winter Talent Show, where Damian, Kevin Gnapoor and of course, The Plastics, performed, was definitely a highlight of the movie. Amy Poehler was absolutely brilliant as Regina’s ‘cool mom’.
So lets raise our awesome shooters to
Gretchen’s father (the inventor of toaster strudel), Karen dressing up as a mouse (DUH),
October 8th (because that’s the day Aaron asked what day it was) and being personally victimized by Regina George.
I could go on and on (and probably create the entire movie out of gifs), but here is one last things before I sign off. Between all the jokes and quotes and hilarious situations the girls got themselves into, there was a good message that Ms. Norbury got across in in ‘counselling’ session.
Preach it, Ms. Norbury!
